On the Trump administration, we must understand that the media in the US played a pivitol role in all this. For a sense of how this is viewed by most Canadians, I invite you to watch this excellent interview with David Frum (who, as a speech writer, coined the phrase "axis of evil" for an earlier US administration). I think he, and David Brooks and others do understand that Trump is the manifestation of decades of political failures, but nevertheless is a malignant force that will make navigating the global meta-crises more chaotic and dangerous. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7goMhEQt9U

The main reason I mentioned Gaza is that it's a killing zone I haven't mentioned while I get on with my life and my writing, which was my main point - per Balibar's life zones and death zones, which I think will be a growing reality. I agree that the walls haven't fallen out of the sky, and nowhere do I suggest that. Death zones are inevitably political, while sometimes referencing other issues like resource constraints. Depending on one's goals it may be useful to separate out the different causative factors, or it may not be. In the case of this post, I don't think it was.
